Rankings

How the Creative Circle Rankings are calculated

The Creative Circle endorses the following awards: Cannes, D&AD, the Loeries, The One Show and the Creative Circle Annual Awards, and assigns points only to these shows.

The rankings are calculated as follows:

  1. The agencies are allocated points for each award in each show, and the points may vary from show to show, depending on the individual show’s points system and relative weighting of the awards.
  2. Cannes, The One Show and the Loeries calculate points for their shows using a weighted system based on the award breakdown. Where the Creative Circle does not get provided a ranking from the show (D&AD & Creative Circle Annual Awards), the Creative Circle calculates the ranking using the Creative Circle point assignments. From 2019, the CC point assignments are guided by the Cannes system.
  3. After the points are calculated for each show, the Creative Circle uses a “Formula One” points style system: The Top 10 agencies in each show are given weighted points, depending where they came in the show, as follows:

    1st place: 25 points
    2nd: 18
    3rd: 15
    4th: 12
    5th: 10
    6th: 8
    7th: 6
    8th: 4
    9th: 2
    10th: 1

  4. This allows for a fair measure across different shows: The agency that comes first at Cannes gets 25 points, and the agency that comes first at the Creative Circle Annual Awards gets 25 points.
  5. Wherever there is a tie, both agencies get the same points, and the next in line is skipped. E.g.If there is a tie for 3rd place, each agency gets 15 points and the next agency is 5th, not 4th.
  6. If two or more agencies share a credit, the points are divided.

Point allocation for individual shows (updated in 2019):
