Creative Circle Names Pete Khoury as New Chairman
Pete Khoury, Chief Creative Officer at TBWA\Hunt Lascaris has been named as the new Chairman of Creative Circle at the Creative Circle Annual Awards.
Khoury takes over from Joe Public Chief Creative Officer, Xolisa Dyeshana who ended his two-year tenure on Thursday.
When asked what his vision for the organisation is for the next two years, Khoury said he intends to put Creative Circle's new purpose, “inspire the transformation of product, people, and perception through the power of creativity” into practice.
“We need to go beyond the way we have been operating,” says Khoury. “The Creative Circle has the most talented and experienced minds in the industry and we now need to consistently be the guiding light to the South African creative community. If we commercialise the organisation, we will have consistent income to implement meaningful initiatives to finance bursaries and empower disadvantaged talent in order to fast track their entry into the industry.”
Khoury goes on to say that the organisation needs to promote cultural diversity, talent mixture and varied generational knowledge to attract a more diverse talent pool and increase the impact and knowledge sharing of industry creative leaders.
Speaking of his predecessor, Khoury says Dyeshana will be most remembered for the Creative Circle's new forward-looking purpose and its integration with the Loeries for enhanced operational processes. Under Dyeshana’s leadership, the Creative Circle also shifted its focus, honed its ambitions, and beefed up its backend.
“Now it is over to me” says Khoury, “to roll up my sleeves and add value where I can, so that we can make the Creative Circle all that it can be.”
